PhD projects

Work in Richard Grainger’s group is centred on the development of new synthetic methods and strategies, and their application in the synthesis of organic molecules of biological or structural interest. Chemistry being developed by the group includes the use of reactive intermediates such as radicals and carbenes, photochemistry, cycloaddition reactions and organosulfur chemistry. They also have an active interest in the use of peri-substituted naphthalenes for the generation and stabilisation of reactive functionalities.

Dr Grainger is interested in supervising doctoral research students in the following areas:

Methodology development and application in natural product synthesis
Organosulfur chemistry
