PhD projects

David Smith is a keen multidisciplinary collaborator and works with scientists and medics in areas ranging from male fertility to endocrine disorders. His research interests include:

Micro-fluid dynamics of fertility and reproduction, including sperm motility and embryonic nodal cilia
Mathematical endocrinology, including pharmacokinetics of cortisol; thyroid disease
Applications of mathematics in medicine

Dave currently supervises a postdoctoral fellow and two PhD students working on computational modelling of sperm motility, one student working on mathematical modelling in endocrinology, and also co-supervises a student in mathematical chemistry. Potential PhD students are warmly encouraged to get in touch.
