Abstract

This case study embarks on a comprehensive exploration of my personal journey and proactive initiative in organizing a series of impactful school outreach events. The primary objective of these events is to narrow the gender imbalance gap prevalent in the field of Economics by inspiring young female students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue studies in Economics.
Through a diverse range of engaging activities, including interactive sessions, a series of talks, immersive taster lectures covering various areas of Economics, and interactive economic games, my goal is to promote Economics, ignite curiosity, and stimulate passion among participants. By illustrating the broad and multifaceted nature of the discipline, my intention is to encourage young women to explore the diverse possibilities of an Economics degree.
This study evaluates the effectiveness of the outreach events by analysing feedback collected from students and teachers through structured questionnaires. The positive results stress the importance of early intervention and initiatives to promote Economics, particularly in schools where there are no Economics modules, limiting students' awareness and understanding of the discipline. By fostering early exposure and creating opportunities for engagement, these events empower female students, break the barriers, bridge the gender representation gap representation in Economics and contribute to a diverse field.
