Abstract

Electric vehicles are growing in market penetration annually. They are expected to play a significant role in decarbonising road transport point source emissions and supporting the global transition to Net Zero. Integrating these electric vehicles into the existing electricity networks, supply chain and refueling infrastructure presents difficulties. However, appropriately deployed artificial intelligence solutions can address many of these challenges. This paper investigates the issues facing the integration of electric vehicles into society as well as providing an introduction into artificial intelligence. This paper then provides a comprehensive overview of the applications of artificial intelligence to electric vehicle integration. Limitations of the current research in this area are outlined, and promising future research directions are discussed.
