Abstract

In all countries, people face multiple challenges to welfare, safety and freedom: human security studies provide a deeper understanding of such threats, and contribute to effective responses.

Human Security Challenges aims to inform readers concerned with global poverty and exclusion, especially those who may be living or working in challenging environments. It addresses issues of the environment, complex poverty, disasters and conflict; it also explains the concept of ‘human security’ and its contribution to contemporary international affairs.
