Abstract

We have identified an error in our back-of-the-envelope calculations, which we would like to rectify in this corrigendum. Specifically, we reported an annual GDP loss estimation of approximately 13–21 billion € for Southern Europe, when the correct value should be 1.3–2.1 billion €.

The error was due to an inaccurate multiplication of a loss estimate per region of 12.5–20.5 million € with 102 wildfire-affected regions per year, on average. The error resulted from a decimal place shifting to the right and only affects the GDP calculation. The corresponding employment calculation is correct.

We would like to clarify that this error does not affect the underlying econometrics or coefficients, which are all correct. We apologize for any inconvenience or confusion that this may have caused.
