Abstract

The second of three video essays on the philosophies underpinning Greta Gerwig's LADY BIRD (2017), THE LADY BIRD BOOK OF KANT explores the strategy of self-determination that the eponymous character performs when she engages in civil disobedience, citing Kant's theory of judgement to counter the doctrine of an assembly on abortion. For study purposes only. In conjunction with LADY BIRD: SELF-DETERMINATION FOR A NEW CENTURY published by Routledge in November 2022.
