    Abstract

This Introduction contextualises Educating Character Through the Arts and summarises each of the chapters. The work draws together the ideas of artistic value and moral value, and considers the abilities of various artforms to educate us about matters of character and virtue. In addition to the theoretical questions on subjects of aesthetics, ethics, and character, the introduction points towards practical and applied issues in pointing to how art can contribute to character development, through education, in the classroom.
