title = "Dr Robot: robotics and AI in healthcare",
abstract = "This chapter reflects on the socio-ethical implications of AI technology adoption. Focusing on the UK experience, it illustrates how the UK government{\textquoteright}s {\textquoteleft}regulator focussed{\textquoteright} approach has failed to capture the nuances in technological developments due to the lack of a comprehensive statutory framework. A re-conceptualisation of AI adoption is called for to ensure that the balance between regulation and risk is proportionate within the context of patient care. The chapter goes on to provide a framework to highlight the impact of innovative integration within the context of AI adoption.",
