Abstract

This chapter presents the development of students' character as an important goal in higher education. It argues that character development is central to the educational mission of universities to produce graduates who will flourish personally, succeed in their careers, and contribute to the good of society. It provides a conceptual and practical framework for character education at the university level and presents illustrative examples of character education initiatives at universities in Europe, the UK, and the USA.
